Let’s explore another highlight of our area: Harrisville and Alcona County! The Heritage Route Trail passes by historic buildings in scenic and quaint Harrisville on the shores of Lake Huron. You will receive a brochure on the history of each site on the route, including the Widow’s Watch Bed and Breakfast, the old post office, the Alcona County Review, the Harbor Master’s house, the old railroad depot, the Hollyhock Quilt Shoppe, etc. We will visit each site on the route, including enjoying lunch at the Old Place Inn. We will start our tour by going to Lincoln to see the authentic depot and its contents. We will visit the intriguing Harrisville Institute for Cultural Learning. HICL is a non-profit dedicated to preserving the grounds, collection and ethos of Dr. Aeneas Constantine, come see this place and learn of him. We will also see the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse and learn of its history. You will have an opportunity to climb the light if you wish.
