Folks Like Us
Petrolia, Ont., Canada Thursday, August 10 7:30 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.
We will tour Petrolia, Ontario on another of our Canadian 150th Anniversary adventures. Petrolia, Ontario, “Canada’s Victorian Oil Town”, is credited with starting the oil industry in North America, we will see its magnificent buildings and mansions from the oil days, including the Petrolia Library, which was the train depot and looks much like the Union Station Depot in Durand that we visited last December. Plenty of photo opportunities here! Petrolia is also the home of Victoria Hall, a National Historic Site of Canada, and we will see the “Folks Like Us” show in this historic theater. Heaped with tradition, wonder and beautiful storytelling, the vast treasure trove of folk songs is truly some of the best-loved, most recognizable music ever.
