Hospice of Helping Hands 2009 Events January – February Hearts for Hospice Fundraiser – Hospice of Helping Hands collaborates with local businesses to sell paper hearts to display in their business. February 6, 7, and 8th Camp Warm Hearts - Weekend winter camp for children and teens, ages 5-15, who have experienced the death of a loved one. Hospice of Helping Hands and MidMichigan Home Care are bringing bereaved children and teens together to warm their hearts. July 4th Duck Race in Irons Park at 12:00 Noon - Hundreds of plastic, numbered ducks will be dropped into the river for the Duck Race. Cash prizes go to the first three ducks that cross the finish line. Tickets are $2.00 each or $5.00 for a book of three tickets. Tickets will be sold till the day of the race, July 4th. September 4, 5 and 6th 11th Annual Yard Sale - Thousands of items ranging from electronics, housewares, furniture, antiques and more! No clothes! October 1, 2 and 3rd 25th Annual Quilt Show and Raffle - Tickets are $5.00/person and include entry to both show locations. Over 100 quilts will be on display between the 4th Street Gallery and the West Branch Library. In addition, many local businesses will display quilts in their establishments. One quilt will be raffled off that weekend as well. Tickets for the quilt raffle are $2.00 each or $5.00 for a book of three tickets. November 7th Bells for Hospice and Bells of Hope Memorial Service - At 12:00 noon, hundreds of communities statewide will symbolically ring their church bells to unify the hospice message, remembering patients and families in recognition of National Hospice Month. As the bells ring across the county on November 7th, Hospice of Helping Hands will also be holding a community memorial service, “Bells of Hope.” The memorial service provides a way for our past patient families and members of our community to honor their loved ones with a hopeful time of reflection and a special candle lighting and bell ringing ceremony.
