Join us for the 60th Annual Perchville USA in the Tawases, featuring more winter fun than you can shake a fish (Perch) at!
The real beginning of the Perchville Weekend begins with a Perchville Kick-off Dinner sponsored by St. Joseph Health System, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, entertainment by “3rd and Soul”. Tickets $20 sold at the Chamber of Commerce. Try not to miss this dinner. To give you a flavor of Perchville Event, the following are a few details of some of the planned events. Be sure to look below at our "Day by Day Events" with the start times for each event listed below.

Join in a "Royal" celebration at the Perchville Eve Kickoff Dinner - Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in East Tawas. We will crown our new King and Queen at this event. A dinner menu of Perch and Pulled Pork will be served followed by prizes and 50-50 raffles.
![]() Stop by the Hospitality Tent for from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. and enjoy live entertainment, featuring your favorite beer & wine. Button required for entry. Heat provided free of charge!
A new fun and exciting item this year will be "riding the ice" in an air boat. Sounds cool doesn't it? Michigan "Cruise and Snooze" will sail you across the bay in a re-enforced boat. See the agenda below for departure location, dates and times. Join in (or just watch!) the Polar Bear Swim (Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.) where brave souls jump into the frigid water. Brrrrr....! The reward? A one-of-a-kind T-shirt declaring you as a member of a very unique breed of Polar Bears! C'mon in! The water's fine! (No, really!) Register ($15) at the Registration Trailer near the Family Tent. Be a food critic at our "Chilly" Cook-off starting at 11:00 a.m. Saturday! Mugs are available at various downtown merchants.
(Get your mug ($6.00) early ~ they go fast!) Vote for your favorite chili on the ballot included in your mug.
Be a part of the Fishing Contest (Really how Perchville got started 57 years ago out there in those ice shanties!). Contest starts Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with final judging on Sunday. Check in time is Noon and 2:00 p.m. This year kids 12 and under are eligible to join in the fishing fun, too!![]() Look for the Perchville Polar Bear in the Perchville USA Parade Saturday at 10:30 AM as he makes his way from Tawas City to downtown East Tawas along US-23. He'll be looking for you around the festival grounds and will be happy to "Strike a pose" for photos with you! Join in the fun at the Family Tent where kids rule! Open Saturday from 11:00 a.m. til 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from Noon til 3:00, with kid games, food and Magic shows plus a lot more!
For more adult-style fun, stop by the Hospitality Tent, Friday 5p.m. –9 p.m., Saturday, 12:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. for live entertainment, and adult libations. Music provided by 3rd and Soul. Lots of fun, give-aways and good times. Oh, and heat...did we mention the heat?!
Leave the driving to us! Shuttle bus service is being offered all through the event weekend, from motels to restaurants and events off the ice.
Day to Day Agenda Award-winning snowmen can be viewed around the Perchville area (if there is snow). Cash prizes. 6 a.m. Youth Fishing Contest begins. Free for 15-year-olds and younger. 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Bake Sale & Used Book Sale, Christ Episcopal Church, located uptown 1 block south of Klenow’s Market. 9:30 a.m. IWPA Dog Pull Registration at event site behind the Family Tent. 10:00 a.m. Frozen Chosen, high-powered rifle 35-shot event held at the Iosco Sportsmen’s Club, located 1 mile north of the Perchville site. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Take a look into the past. Antique snowmobiles (2 collections), ground lighting, Silver Valley presentation at the Iosco County Historical Museum. 10:30 a.m. Perchville Parade, sponsored by ITC Holdings. Parade travels from Tawas City Hall, down US-23 to Newman Street in East Tawas. 11 a.m. Polar Bear Swim Registration. Brave the elements for a one-of-a-kind T-Shirt and a quick dip into the Tawas Bay. Youth 16 & 17 years old need parent’s signature. No one under 16. Fee $15. Register in trailer near Family Tent. 11 a.m. Chilly Cook-Off, brought to you by the East Tawas Business Association. Mugs available at Mooney’s Ben Franklin & Brew Krew. Browse Newman Street while sampling chili, then cast your vote for the best chili for 2010. 11 a.m. IWPA Dog Pulls, sponsored by Tawas Bay Insurance Agency. Watch as dogs from all over the country put their strength to the test. Located behind the Family Tent. 12 noon Old Tyme Movie – Family Theater on Newman Street will show a short entertaining movie about the beginning of the Tawas area. Shown on the hour till 3 p.m. 12 noon – 5 p.m. Air Boat Rides, brought to you by the Michigan Cruise & Snooze Charters. This 18-foot-long air boat will sail you across the icy Bay for the ride of a lifetime. 11:00 am – 5 p.m. Family Tent opens, sponsored by Neiman’s Family Market, and activities brought to you by the Young adults from the Dockside Kids of East Tawas Assembly of God . Games, family entertainment, crafts, food and much more. The FISH COOP IS BACK! ! ! ! Kids can catch their own fish from two tanks of trout. Great fun for young & old. Don’t miss the experience. 12 noon – 7 p.m. Hospitality Tent open, sponsored by Saganing Eagles Landing Casino and Tawas Bay Tourist & Convention Bureau. Must be 21 to enter. Perchville button and photo ID required to enter. Live entertainment by the fantastic “M.A.M. Productions”, under the Big Top Tent. 12:30 p.m. Shanty Races. Watch all the decked-out entries race to the finish line for the honor of being the fastest shanty. 1 p.m. United States Coast Guard Water Rescue Demonstration at the Polar Bear Swim Hole. 1:30 p.m. Polar Bear Swim, sponsored by the Tawas Bay Beach Resort. Watch or be a part of the chilly dip into Tawas Bay. This event will give you goose bumps and lots of laughs. 2 p.m. Candy Drop! ! ! The Wolverine Kite Company will drop pounds of candy from a 14’ x 18’ kite behind the Family Tent. Three separate drops for ages 1-4; 5-8; and 9-12. Get the cameras ready to see this beautiful kite and all the smiling faces. 3:30 p.m. Polar Bear Swim, sponsored by the Tawas Bay Beach Resort. Second swim of the day. Watch all the brave souls take a dip in the icy waters of Tawas Bay.

Cash prizes. 8 a.m. – noon Knights of Columbus Pancake & Sausage Breakfast on Newman Street, ½ mile from event site. 10 – 10:30 a.m. IWPA Dog Pull Registration 11 a.m. IWPA Dog Pulls, sponsored by Dean Arbour Chevrolet/Ford. Watch as dogs from all over the country test their strength. Located behind the Family tent. 12 noon – 3 p.m. Family Tent opens, sponsored by Neiman’s Family Market. Food, crafts, games, and catch a fish at our FISH COOP! ! ! Great family fun. 12 noon Polar Bear Swim Registration, located at trailer near the Family Tent. Take a chilly dip in the Bay for a one-of-a-kind T-Shirt. Parental permission for anyone 16 & 17 years old. No one under 16. 1 p.m. United States Coast Guard Water Rescue Demonstration at the Polar Bear Swim hole. 1:30 p.m. Polar Bear Swim, sponsored by Independent Bank. Last chance to take that refreshing dip in the Tawas Bay. 2:30 p.m. Fishing Tournament Final. Be on hand for the final tally of the Perch, Pike and Walleye that have been skillfully caught. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded. Youth Fishing Contest Final. Trophies will be awarded to the youth who caught the biggest and heaviest bunch of Perch, Pike or Walleye. BOTH events will be held at the Chamber Headquarters located at the event site. 3 p.m. Perchville ends. Have a safe trip home, and we’ll see you next year!

At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Wolverine Kite Company will drop pounds and pounds of candy and soft toys from a 14' x 18' kite flying high over Perchville USA! Two drops for 3 age groups. In the event of inclement weather, the CANDY DROP will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. The sponsors for this event are the Brew Krew, Diane Graham, Village Chocolatier and Wolverine Kite Company (Rick and Patti Rujan)
