Michigan-based Art Van Furniture celebrated the grand opening of their newest franchise on April 14th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility on US-23 just north of East Tawas.
The Chamber congratulates owners Kim and Dan Murphy on their achievement and wish them continued success. The couple is pictured cutting the ribbon alongside family members, staff, Chamber President Lisa Bolen, community members and Art Van representatives.
Longtime owner of Tawas Appliance, Dan believes strongly in giving area residents more choices to shop and keeping business local. He is also proud of hiring local companies and suppliers as much as possible to create the huge store on US-23 in Baldwin Township. Dan extended his appreciation to God, his family, friends, employees, contractors and everyone else who supported this endeavor, saying the store would not be open without their help. “We put a lot of time and hours into it, but it’s always been fun,” he commented.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by a large crowd, including many Chamber and local government representatives. “It’s been a tremendous ride,” said Dan. In keeping with the philanthropic efforts of Art Van, the Murphys presented a $1,500 check to FISH Chairman Orvle Henson, which was then matched by the corporate organization. The new store offers furniture, mattresses, appliances, and outdoor furniture. Contact them at 989.362.2388.
